ACHUAR PEOPLE ASSUME OPERATIONS OF KAPAWI STARTING 31-12-07
CHANGE OF MODEL FOR A GRADUALLY TRANSFERENCE PROCESS

The anticipation in the transference had being decided in common agreement with the Achuar nationality, as regards the experience of the years that have worked together.  As the President of NAE Jaime Tanchim says, “ We need a new model, we gradually need a transference process, otherwise it will be hard to assume the operation in 2011”.  Several workshops have being developed in the last years to define the ideal conditions for the Achuar people to totally manage the lodge and the company KAPAWI

“Kapawi will be transformed in the first Ecolodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon rain forest that is going to be managed by and indigenous people, actually there are only examples of small communities managements´, but we need to work in the future.  Because of this, Canodros S.A is going to support with the marketing of the lodge” Explain Marco Pino, General Manager of Canodros S.A.  “We are confident that the Achuars will continue the administration of the lodge with the standards established during the last years by Canodros S.A and for that we are finishing the reconstruction of the lodge, so the product will maintain the optimum quality”.

Final agreement was signed on September 18th at Hostal El Rio at Puyo, with the presence of NAE and Canodros S.A directors:
